   この本は家の祖父の三代目の須藤武雄が昭和56年に執筆した本です。

まえがき

 

 

私は益子に生まれ、益子に育ち、益子の土とともに生かされてきました。

 

 

土をこね、ろくろをまわし、窯と語り続けて五十年の歳月が過ぎていこうとしています。

 

 

昔ならば、「人生五十年」とされ、もう終わる頃ですが、今では、幸せなことに、

 

 

五十年はようやく入り口に立ったところなのです。

 

 

私は益子の里から外に出たことはありません。

 

 

出ようとも思いません。

 

 

益子の里を取り巻く八溝山系の美しい風景を、この上なく、愛しています。

 

 

本当に美しい景色を四季折々に見せてくれます。

 

 

里の人たちは、ゆっくりと温かく、自然のままに生活をしています。

 

 

人間的な温かさが心にのこっているのでしょう。

 

 

それにもまして、うれしいことは、浜田庄司先生が隣組の中におられたことです。

 

 

私は幼い頃から、何の構えもなく、浜田庄司先生と奥様を見て育ちました。

 

 

三男の篤哉さんが学校友達で、毎日、遊んでいましたから、先生のおおらかな人間味にも

 

 

自然に触れさせて頂くことが少なくありませんでした。

　　I will start translate a book which was written by my grandfather Sudo Takeo.

      

         

   This book was made in Showa 56, 1981. Therefore, it is almost 30 years ago and my grandfather passed away 14 years ago.

 

 

         

　     I will be glad if you can feel old Mashiko and his life.

         

          

             Introduction

          

         

  I was born in Mashiko and grew up in Mashiko. I have lived with Mashiko's earth for 50 years.

        

           

  I have never been out of Mashiko. Also, I do not want to go out of Mashiko. 

 

 

  I love Mashiko's beautiful scenery of Yamizo sankei ( Yamizo sankei is a series of mountain. Mashiko-machi is surrounded by these mountains. )

 

 

  I admire the all season. Mashiko's people are living warmly and gently. 

 

 

 They live with nature. 

 

 

  Furthermore, to my joy, Hamada shoji sensei is my neighbor.

 

 

  Therefore, I grew up with Hamada family.

 

  My class mate was Hamada's 3rd son Atsuya, and we played with him every day.

 

 

  I am very lucky because of my surroundings.
