窯神様　God of kiln

At the new yeah,

we Japanese dedicate Kagami-mochi for god.

Also, we potter dedicate Omiki(Japanese sake) for each Klin.

My mother said that since she was a kid,

she saw that her mother or mother dedicated Omiki for Klin

because it is believed God lived in a klin.

The god must be in charge of fire.

For making pottery,

it is one of the most important factor how to handle with fire.

December has come.

I am sure that my mother dedicates Omiki for each klin.

新年になると決まって日本人は神様に鏡餅をお供えします。

そして私たち陶芸を生業にしているものは窯にお神酒を奉ります。

母が子供の頃から、父母がお神酒を窯に奉っているのを見ていたようです。

窯には炎の神様が宿ると信じられているようです。

炎をつかさどるのは、焼物を作るうえでとても重要です。

もう師走ですね。

今年もお神酒が窯に奉られることでしょう。
